Individual Therapy

In counseling with me, you can expect to:

- cultivate a practice of mindful curiosity about your thoughts, beliefs, feelings and sensations in your body in the present moment. This helps to increase resilience and self compassion as well as opening the door for insight and opportunities to make different choices.

-uncover the origins of your struggles by exploring your early life and how it impacts you in the present.  This helps to shift historic conditioning and limiting beliefs that keep you from the life you want to live.

-gain freedom from the impacts of past hurts and traumas that keep you from feeling that you are in charge of your life through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Lifespan Integration, Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, all modalities that are effective at "unsticking" the present from the past.

-experience a new freedom to expand your life in ways you might not have thought possible.

-gain insight into how the intersections of systemic racism, sexism, classism, ableism, and other forms of oppression have impacted your sense of yourself, your relationships with others, and your place in the world.

Affirming

I am committed to being LGBTQI+ affirming, sex positive, trauma-informed, body positive, and conscious of experiences of internalized and systemic oppression.  I am also highly aware of my position of power in the therapy relationship and I invite conversations about how power and privilege play out not only in your life, but in our work as well.

Collaboration

I also believe that holistic healing involves many systems and many paths and I am quite comfortable coordinating care with or healers including body workers, acupuncturists, nutrition counselors, psychiatrists or ARNPs, medical doctors and any one else that would contribute to your healing.
